What information do we collect?
Ari Whitten Inc. collects information in two categories:
1. Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
- We collect your name and email address, and occasionally phone number. For example, you may subscribe to receive email updates from the blog on the web site by submitting your email address. You also may submit comments to the blog on the Site or through the contact mechanism on the web site and be asked to enter your name and email address. We generally do not encourage the submission of any personal information in these comments or through the contact mechanism other than what we expressly require (e.g., name and email address). Information you disclose in the comments becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your information in a submission.Web servers may automatically capture the following information from visitors to the Site, including the name of the domain and host from which you access the internet, the internet address of the Site from which you enter the Site, the pages you visit on the Site and the amount of time you spend on the Site. This visitor information may be used to improve the web site.
- We may also collect demographic information. All such information is strictly protected and used only for delivering the content and products the user has signed up for or purchased, or for finding other men and women who may find our information valuable. This information is NEVER used for other purposes and is NEVER shared with 3rd parties for their own use.
2. Web Beacons
Like many other commercial web sites, we use web beacons. Web beacons are small bits of code embedded in web pages or in emails. Web beacons may be used to deliver or communicate with cookies, to count users who have visited a web page and to understand usage patterns. Web beacons also may be included in emails to learn if messages have been opened, acted on or forwarded. If you wish to disable Web beacons, you can do so by blocking cookies in your internet browser.
What are cookies/clear GIFs and how do we use them? Cookies: Like many other commercial sites, our site utilizes standard technologies called “cookies.” Cookies are small data text files which a website stores on your computer’s hard drive (if your web browser permits) that can later be retrieved to identify you to us. This is standard technology used by most commercial web sites to help a website recognize a user’s browser as a previous visitor and thus save and remember any preferences that may have been set while the user was browsing the site. A cookie cannot be read by a website other than the one that set the cookie. A cookie cannot pass on a computer virus or capture any of the Personally Identifiable information.
Clear GIFs: At times, we work with third-party service partners that employ clear GIFs (also known as pixel tags, single pixel GIFs, web beacons or action tags) for our benefit to help us measure advertising effectiveness. Clear GIFs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of our users. This is standard technology used by many other commercial sites to measure and improve effectiveness of paid advertising. This information never includes personally identifiable information, and no GIF-related information is shared with 3rd parties.
How do we store your email information? Your email information (email address, first name) is stored at the list server that delivers our newsletters. Your information is not shared with any 3rd party. All of the newsletters that are sent to you by Ari Whitten Inc. or www.theenergyblueprint.com include an unsubscribe link in them.
